EQUINE AND RANCH MANAGEMENT
TRAINING PROGRAM

California-China Educational Partnership

Feather River College (FRC) is California’s leading provider of equine management studies, or as we say “horsemanship for the real world.” Located in Northern California, FRC is home to some of America’s most advanced ranching and equine courses in the United States.

Through a strong, mutually beneficial partnership with organizations in China, American students have the opportunity to intern there and Chinese professionals can attend short-term training programs at FRC.

What is the Equine and Ranch Management Program?

FRC has one of America’s most advanced agriculture programs, providing students with the best degree programs. Courses are taught by leading equine experts from all over the world. The equine program is not based on theory, but on practice. Students are involved from the moment the foals are born until they are sold as riding horses.

What is the China-California Partnership?

Agriculture has always been a major industry in California and there is a growing interest in equine practices across China. Enter the partnership between California and China; a gateway to international learning for both students, professionals, teachers and ranchers. Students work on private ranches or at colleges in China and Chinese professionals come to learn about commercial equine opportunities at FRC.

Why Should I Participate?

It’s simple: if you have a passion for horses, this program will take that love to the next level. Broadening your perspective on international equine programs is invaluable. You’ll work with the best equine trainers, cutting-educational technology and learn about equine management.

Student Internships

Overview

You might be asking “Why China?” Over the last 20 years there has been an increasing interest in the equine industry in China and it has exploded in more recent years. Because of this, the Chinese are partnering with FRC so students can do internships at their ranches and schools, while Chinese professionals plan visits FRC to learn more about the equine industry in America.

This student internship program will provide you with a competitive advantage as you learn about the way other cultures handle the equine industry.

How Does The Internship Work?

During your equine internship in China, you will visit either a private ranch or an equine college with affiliated stables. Depending on your program you will attend a short educational visit (around one week with additional weeks to travel locally) or a practical placement (around two weeks working at a ranch).
The majority of your time will be spent assisting the local ranchers and equine lecturers on a series of projects around the ranch, mentored by employees to learn the ins and outs of their work. This equine training experience is also a lesson in international relations and you’ll be asked to give a presentation on FRC’s equine program while there
